Born out of an idea of crossing the contemporary with the traditional, Pedlar’s Cross draws from Irish music, Indian classical raga, folk and stomp blues to create an intriguing and unique sound underpinned by an array of colourful strings and percussion. Pedlar’s Cross combines multi-instrumentalists, Conor O’Sullivan, Dara O’Brien and Jason O’Driscoll. The trio converge with their diverse musical backgrounds and create an entirely new twist on world music.
“Close your eyes” is the debut album from Pedlar’s Cross, a collection of songs and tunes spanning multiple genres and informed by the wide musical background that comes from the bands three members. Each track is carefully crafted to lead the listener into a different world, be it to a place of decay and finality as the title track suggests, the introspective and lonesome setting of “Ways of your mind” or to hell and back (Devil song). This album has many different stories, moods and messages with a palette of sounds to match.
